Course Description: The caries treatment paradigm has shifted from only restoring teeth to preventing and managing caries as a disease. This expands the menu of options we can offer patients, but also requires new terminology and skill sets. This lecture will describe how the ADA Caries Classification System, silver diamine fluoride, and glass ionomer cement might be used in clinical practice to manage and monitor different stages of caries lesions over time.

About Our Speaker
Douglas A. Young DDS, EdD, MS, MBA Dr. Young is a Professor at the University of the Pacific where he is an active and ardent educator in the field of minimally invasive dentistry, dental materials, and cariology. He is one of the founders of the CAMBRA (caries management by risk assessment) Coalition. Dr. Young recently served on the ADA Council of Scientific Affairs and is currently a cariology consultant for the ADA. Dr. Young has presented at congresses and universities around the world. Dr. Young has been published in numerous peer-reviewed dental journals and textbooks focusing on minimal invasive dentistry, glass ionomer, and cariology.
