Like the rest of the body, the mouth is susceptible to medical problems such as infections, autoimmune diseases, cancer, and complications of other medical problems or medical treatment. Oral Medicine is the specialty within dentistry that addresses the various disorders of the mouth besides the teeth, and its relationship to the rest of the body and overall health. This program will be an overview of oral mucosal disease that may assist you in the diagnosis and treatment in in your practice. This is a program open to dentists, assistants and hygienists.
About Our Speaker
John C. Robinson DDS Dr. John Robinson is an Academic Fellow and a past-president of the American Academy of Oral Medicine. He received his DDS degree at Georgetown University and a certificate in Hospital Dentistry from the University of Washington. He is an Associate Clinical Professor in the UCSF Oral Medicine Clinic, a busy, referral-based clinic providing care for a wide variety of oral diseases. Dr. Robinson is a recipient of the Diamond Pin, the highest award given by the American Academy of Oral Medicine, and has been made an Honorary Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine. He is actively engaged in the teaching of dental students and dental and oral medicine residents. Dr. Robinson maintains a private dental practice in Santa Rosa, California.
